Samsung’s Galaxy Buds are considered to be one of the AirPods’ closest rivals. Now that Apple is selling the Pro version of its wireless earbuds like hotcakes, it’s up to Samsung to come up with a more capable and competitive product. As mentioned before, the Galaxy Buds+ are expected to launch alongside Samsung’s flagship Galaxy S20 series on February 11. Thanks to additional leaks, we now have a clearer picture of how much it would cost and what features justify the higher price tag. According to Max Weinbach of XDA Developers, the Galaxy Buds+ will retail for $149.99, which is a full $20 more than the original Galaxy Buds that launched last year. He adds that the battery life will be double that of its predecessor and it’ll deliver improved adaptive noise isolation.

Still No Word on Active Noise Cancelation

This is yet another leak that confirms the lack of active noise canceling in the upcoming true wireless earbuds from Samsung. It’s a shame since Apple applied this tech on the popular AirPods Pro, which the Galaxy Buds+ aims to compete against. Instead, the newer Galaxy Buds seem to carry over the original’s design and dimensions. However, rumors say that it’ll be slightly heavier thanks to the upgraded battery. With the info we have so far, it looks like the increase in price equates to minor feature updates. As for colors, we’re currently looking at three: black, white, and a light shade of blue. The good news is that all three may launch at the same time on February 11. Unfortunately, none of the leaks give us clues on how Samsung improved the sound output and microphone quality.

A Perfect Pairing with the Galaxy S20 Series

We previously reported that the Galaxy Buds+ will potentially be bundled with Galaxy S20+ and S20 Ultra pre-orders. This still holds true, but we’re not yet certain if the promotion applies to the Galaxy Z Flip, which is Samsung’s rumored next-generation foldable phone. Going for the Galaxy S20 Ultra bundle might be a costly investment, however. Weinbach claims that the top model of the three will retail for $1,300. We’ll learn all these and more during Samsung’s Unpacked event happening in San Francisco, California on February 11.
